John Phillip Abbott

John Phillip Abbott est un peintre aventurier et dessinateur. Ses peintures exubérantes, rythmiques, illusionnistes et laborieuses sont des abstractions hybrides planant dans un arène conceptuel composé, le noyau de mots et de phrases provenant de son expérience personnelle et du monde extérieur abondant. Les peintures géométriques d’Abbott à différentes échelles éclairent la place entre la poésie visuelle, la grille minimaliste, l’op-art, le graffiti et soi décrit comme étant de nature punk positive, étant donné la musique que l’artiste écoute pendant les séances de peinture.. Les textes et compositions sont rigoureusement scotchés, dessinés, pulvérisés ou peints avec un pinceau à la main. Les mots ou les phrases sont comme dans une prose architectonique, une exploration expressionniste de couleurs et de motifs formant non seulement des couches de signification, mais aussi des associations synesthésiques.

John Phillip Abbott (1975), né à Wausau dans le Wisconsin, a exposé dans les venues international et plus récemment à la COUNTY Gallery de Palm Beach, en Floride; Galerie Bertrand à Genève, Suisse; et Pierogi, New York. Il était inclus dans des expositions au musée d’art américain New Britain en Nouvelle-Bretagne, CT et au 516 Arts Museum d’Albuquerque, au Nouveau-Mexique. Il vit et travaille actuellement à Silver City, au Nouveau-Mexique, après avoir résidé à Houston, au Texas, plusieurs années après avoir terminé ses études à la Santa Reparata School of Art de Florence, en Italie, et obtenu une maîtrise en beaux-arts à l’Université du Wisconsin en 2007. revu dans de nombreuses publications dont le New York Times et New American Paintings. C’est la quatrième fois que l’artiste expose à Paris, d’après la galerie audacieux nommé Van der Stegen (2008-2012).
